Date launched as a software classification system: July 2002

Since July 2002, console games in Japan have been classified by Computer Entertainment Rating Organization. As of April 2004, content descriptor icons were added to support classification decisions. CERO's counterpart that looks after classifications on computer and mobile games is the Ethics Organization of Computer Software (EOCS).
