For all characters, plug in a multi tap. Highlight the two-player mode (second option) at the title screen, then hold Right on controller 4 and press I on controller 1 to unlock all characters in two-player mode.

Additional animation modes

For additional animation modes, plug in a multi tap. Highlight the "Options" (third) option at the title screen, then hold Left on controller 5 and press I on controller 1. The "Options" screen will appear. Select "Exit" and repeat the code again. You will then be able to change "Animation" from "Normal" to "Arrange 1" or "Arrange 2".
