Snowboard Kids
Game Review
Snowboard Kids is a light-hearted, fun, downhill racing game. It's
like Mario Kart 64, but on a snowboard and it's all downhill. You
don't have to accelerate, just steer your way around corners, obstacles
and cliffs while trying to get to first place using the assistance
of various weapons and special items you can pick up on the track.
This game is extremely fun, even as a 1 player game, but with 4
players it is very enjoyable. You collect coins to pick up special
items and weapons to stop your opponents getting to the finish line
before you. These include Freeze Shot (freezes opponent), Snow Men
(turns opponent into a snow man), Parachute (sends opponent into
the air, floating back down on a parachute), Invisibility (makes
you invulnerable to weapon attacks), Speed Fan (powers you ahead),
etc. Coins can also be collected from doing special tricks on the
snowboard. Once you get to first place in all courses, new courses
become available to you.
The courses in the game are always fun. The graphics are quite
good for this type of game, with some pretty good scenery. One problem
you may encounter is controlling the game - it can be hard at first,
however, there is a tutorial in the game as well that helps you
learn the moves. You can also play a skill game, target game and
time attack, all while snowboarding. There are so many options available
to you in this game, you'll want to keep coming back to it.
The sound is suitable and each character speaks. The music is excellent
- some might say simple, but the cute techno songs are very suitable
to this game. Overall, a great game that will give you hours of
fun.
